STRANGER THINGS SEASON 4 RECAP
So Stranger Things Season 4 has come and gone, and we have had a blast watching it!
Over the course of the nearly four action-packed hours, the Duffer Brothers dish out not only heart-tugging reunions and game-changing plot twists but epic battles and, yes, some major deaths, too. Somehow they even manage to pause just long enough to make a case for pineapple on pizza (YUCK).
Nevertheless, we wanted to dive a little deeper into some of the key talking points off the back of Season 4 and what might be to come in Season 5. So if you haven't binge watched Season 4 like the rest of us look away now *SPOILERS AHEAD*.
Stranger Things Season 5 Predictions / Theories
While we probably have at least a year and a half, if not two years until the arrival of Stranger Things Season 5, based on how the timeline of the seasonal releases have gone to date.
Ahead of 2024, we’re left to speculate about what might arrive in season 5, and a few recurring themes seem to be surfacing, partially based on things the Duffer Brothers have said and partially based on in-show clues.
Is Max Still Alive?
There are a lot of theories circulating surrounding the fate of our beloved Max. When we leave her in Season 4, she is in a coma and effectively braindead after being killed by Vecna and brought back to life by Eleven. But where is Max's consciousness?
When 001 kills all the gifted children in the lab he tells 011 "they aren't gone Eleven - they're still with me in here (referring to his mind)". Also, given the fact that Eleven goes into The Darkness looking for Max and can't find her - Max being trapped inside Vecna/One/Henry's mind makes as much sense as anything else!
Mrs Wheeler Is Vecna's Sister?
Now this is one theory that has been thrown around a little bit, which may seem hard to believe. But apparently Mrs Wheeler (Mike and Nancy's mum) could potentially Vecna's sister 'Alice'.
Now we know what you're thinking - Henry said he killed her as a child. However, in the vision Vecna showed Nancy, we see Henry kill his mum and while it does pan over Alice on the floor next to a passed out Henry for over exerting his powers, we never see the death.
What really sparked these rumours is that "Karen" has recently been given her own character poster, which actually shows the Creel House in the backdrop. Talk about an Easter egg!
Despite seemingly not having a very large role throughout the story in Season 4, could this potentially mean that she is in fact revealed as Henry (Vecna's) sister Alice in Season 5?
Eddie Wake Up!
Now we know everybody loves Eddie so maybe this is our bias more than anything, although, could Eddie still be alive?
In the process of drawing the attention of the demobats, and standing his ground in order to give his friends enough time to attack the murderous Vecna elsewhere in the Upside Down. Eddie gets overwhelmed by the bats and dies in Dustin's arms for a heartbreaking moment.
It goes like this: Dungeons & Dragons character Kas the Bloody-Handed was a resurrected lieutenant of Vecna's who turned on Vecna and killed him. He also happened to be a vampire...
The theory then follows the traditional idea that (vampire) bat bites can turn people into vampires, and Eddie was bitten by demobats. While we know Steve Harrington was also bitten, people are saying he would've needed to die in order to come back as a vampire. And Eddie died.
Kas and Eddie also share a few similarities, which fans are hoping amount to the foreshadowing of Eddie's return. This includes the shield they both used when in battle and the Hellfire Club actually mentioning Kas in the D&D game they played earlier in the season.
Could we be onto something here?
Will's Role In Season 5?
The Duffer brothers have already come out and confirmed that Will plays a key role in the upcoming season, and a lot of people are split on whether he will play a major role as a hero or villain.
Will’s elevated importance in Season 5 was foreshadowed at the tail-end of Season 4, when he— and only he alone —was able to sense Vecna’s return. Will’s ability to feel Vecna in ways that nobody else in the group can (not even Eleven) stem from his Season 1 days spent hiding in the Upside Down and becoming connected to the Hive Mind.
- Maybe Will has powers similar or greater to El's he's currently unaware of?
- Maybe Will has to sacrifice himself in order to completely destroy the Hive Mind and the Upside Down?
- Henry Created the Mind Flayer by drawing it as a child. Does Will's drawing of the Red Dragon similarly come to life in the final season?
There really is countless ways this could go but all will come to light in Season 5!
